TRAINING SYSTEM (PARENTS GUIDE)

The BBL Academy provides year round training that is ideal for establishing, improving and mastering the individual skills needed to be an outstanding lacrosse player. We offer classes for beginners through Division 1 athletes. These are not just clinics that are grouped by age, but rather real classes where your child can develop the specific skills needed to be successful on the field. We usually assign one coach to each 6-8 students.

Each seasonal session usually consists of 5-6 classes which take place once per week. At the end of each session your child will receive an online evaluation which will detail what your child still needs to work on. Sometimes we may recommend that your child take a session a second time if he/she has not mastered the skills needed to move to the next level and be successful.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CLASS MY CHILD SHOULD START WITH?

That is the most frequently asked question by parents. We have charted out the individual skills a player would need on the lacrosse field and then developed these concepts into FOUR different levels of class categories to help encapsulate the training concepts within various curriculums.

This format serves players of all positions, and will teach forward thinking players that it is vital to be skilled both offensively and defensively because of the universality of these skills on the lacrosse field.

This is a perfect class for beginner players who are unsure if they want to pursue the sport, and players who want to gain more confidence before they move into more skill intensive development. SEASONAL SPECIALTY CLASSES

Friday Night Lights (boys)/ Galaxy (girls):

This class is ideal for children in grades 5-8, and is typically offered in the fall sessions 1 and 2. We believe that sometimes players should be given a fun, non-competitive environment to try out the news skills that they are learning in class.  Informal leagues are a great opportunity to learn, have fun and be challenged through competition when run properly.  We have created a small sided environment where many more players touch the ball and everyone is contributing.

In the invite only 5 v 5 league, everyone plays offense and defense, enhancing all around skills and learning.  The smaller format and professional coaching increases the amount of touches and the amount of direct plays each player is involved in.  The reduced field size increases the number of plays that occur in each game, and drastically enhances the speed of the game.

Pizza, prizes and music add to the fun of the evening!

Face Offs / Draws:

Being great at face offs/draws is a distinct advantage for players and teams.  BBL is on a mission to provide the finest face off training in the state to not only benefit our own travel teams, but also help players become dominant forces on their youth and high school teams, and potentially use these talents to get recruited for college.

Goalie:

We like to think of goalies as quarterbacks of the defense. The BBL Goalie Academy offers year round classes for goalies who want to hone their skills and learn how to set the tone on the defensive end. These classes typically have a low student to coach ratio so that individual feedback can be provided each class.
