TEAM STRUCTURE
Our North region offers travel team opportunities from youth through high school, with 2026, 2027, 2029 (2 teams), 2030, 2031, and 2032 teams. We use lacrosse as a catalyst to develop strong, confident young women — our goal is to build not just the best players, but the best teammates. Each Elite Travel Team creates an environment where players push each other while succeeding individually, because we believe you must compete against the best to become the best. Every year, our players face a wide range of top programs nationwide to keep them prepared for the highest level of competition.
We know every player grows and learns differently, and two things set our program apart. First, our foundational training develops the whole player — position-specific work on both ends of the field, plus "outside the box," non-traditional training opportunities. Second, our coaching staff delivers individualized feedback, taking the time to understand each player's learning style and motivation to help them reach their short- and long-term goals.
A key part of that feedback is ensuring coaches speak with players every time they're subbed out, helping them learn in real game situations and build confidence through the game's ups and downs. Players also receive two written evaluations throughout the year, giving them a personalized training agenda to reach their highest potential.
PHILOSOPHY
We are using lacrosse as a catalyst to develop strong confident young women. Each of our Elite Travel Teams consists of players who not only bring out the best in each other, but also creates an environment where they can be successful individually on the field. It is our belief, to be the best you must compete against the best. We ensure that every year our players are seeing a wide range of the best programs in the country so they are continuously preparing to compete at the highest level.
We understand that every player grows and learns differently and have centered our program around this. We believe there are two distinct characteristics of our program that sets us apart.The first is the foundational training we provide to our players within the competitive team environment. We focus on developing each of our players as a whole player, including position specific training on both ends of the field. We encourage our players to train “outside the box” and have many opportunities for them to grow through non-traditional training.
The second characteristic we believe sets us apart from other programs is our coaching staff and the individual feedback they give each player on the team. While we do boast a competitive team environment, it is important for the development of each of our players for them to have individual feedback and training. It is our philosophy that all of our players are given specific feedback about what and how they can improve their individual game. Along with feedback each time they are subbed out of a game, they are also given two written evaluations throughout the year, so they have a personalized training plan to help them reach their highest potential.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
MARIA GRANT
Maria Grant is entering her fourth year as Director of Building Blocks Girls Lacrosse (BBL) North, bringing decades of experience coaching athletes from kindergarten through the collegiate level at both Division I and Division III programs. A First Team Lacrosse All-American and 2024 Rutgers University Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Maria was also voted Bergen County Coach of the Year in 2025 by her peers. Prior to BBL North, she served as President of a Hunterdon County youth lacrosse organization supporting more than 400 players. As BBL North Director, Maria continues to oversee operations, mentor coaching staff, lead recruiting program, and runs BBL Academy training sessions. Maria's coaching philosophy centers on developing the whole child — using athletics as a vehicle to build resilience, leadership, accountability, and teamwork alongside athletic skill. Her goal is to share her love of the game while helping young women grow into confident, successful leaders on and off the field.
RECRUITING
Our philosophies on recruiting are in line with the philosophy of the IWLCA and NCAA. We understand this process is different for every prospective student-athlete (PSA) and it is our goal to find the right fit for each individual player. As a club, we strive to encourage our families to do their research. We provide many resources to help our families navigate this process. Each one of our PSAs is given an individual recruiting plan, as well as access to our online college profile system that allows them to educate themselves on many different athletic programs, as well as helps them gain exposure by providing an online profile that includes the athlete’s personal information, highlight reel as well as the ability to communicate directly with prospective programs. Our promise to our families is that if you want to play at the collegiate level, we will never stop helping you achieve that goal. We do not believe in the window of opportunity passing at a certain time and we are proud to say every year we have players commit to the school of their dreams as late as their senior year
